Assalamualaikum Everyone!
The Journey of Writing My Thesis: Exploring the Beauty of Translation Studies
I am excited to share with you the incredible journey I embarked on while writing my thesis at the Degree level in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia(USIM). This article was published at Al Qanatir, and it holds a special place in my heart as it explores my love for translation studies.
Like any journey, it had its challenges and moments of doubt, but the passion I developed for the beauty and richness of the Arabic language kept me going. It all began when I delved into the world of translation and discovered the profound impact it has on bridging cultural gaps and facilitating effective communication.
My thesis focused on the "Problems in translating English-Arabic collocations among students of the Faculty of Major Languages Studies." It was a fascinating topic that allowed me to delve deeper into the intricacies of translating collocations, which are combinations of words that have become fixed expressions in a particular language.
The journey of researching and writing my thesis was not without its difficulties. I encountered complex linguistic concepts, extensive literature reviews, and the need for meticulous attention to detail. However, it was during these challenges that I truly fell in love with the Arabic language and its hidden gems.
Throughout the process, I discovered the vastness and richness of Arabic vocabulary, where every word seemed to carry a story and evoke deep emotions. Translating collocations required not only an understanding of the words themselves but also the cultural nuances and contextual meanings they carry.
By studying the problems faced by students in translating English-Arabic collocations, I aimed to shed light on the importance of developing effective translation strategies and techniques. I wanted to encourage a deeper understanding and appreciation of the complexities involved in this area of study.
As I delved into my research, I discovered fascinating insights, unearthed hidden linguistic patterns, and even uncovered some innovative translation approaches used by students. It was a journey of self-discovery, constantly learning and growing while unraveling the mysteries of language.
With the publication of my article in Al Qanatir, I felt a deep sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. Sharing my findings with the academic community and contributing to the field of translation studies was truly rewarding.
Looking back, the journey of writing my thesis was a transformative experience. It not only enhanced my knowledge and skills in translation studies, but it also ignited a passion within me to continue exploring and promoting the beauty of the Arabic language.
To all the aspiring researchers and language enthusiasts out there, I encourage you to embark on your own journeys of discovery.
